Throughout the month of October, the Green Committee sponsored a school-wide shoe drive. Gently used shoes were collected to be donated to the MORE Foundation group, which helps to fight poverty in West Africa, while slightly more damaged shoes were given to the Bay State Textiles or Nike’s “Re-Use a Shoe” program where the shoe materials are recycled.

We challenged Whitman-Hanson High School to see who could collect the most pairs of shoes. Unfortunately, Whitman-Hanson beat us 1832 pairs to 1350 pairs. Even though we did not manage to win against Whitman-Hanson, 1350 pairs of shoes is a lot of shoes, and we should be proud of what we accomplished. Next year we can only hope to collect more!
