As spring sports rapidly approach, coaches launch into the daunting task of choosing teams and many students are faced with a week of grueling tryouts. Many students participating in tryouts fall victim to the stress that tryouts bring.

Sophomore Katherine Even expresses her appreciation of crew’s tryout free climate. Katherine notes, “I’m very thankful. It really eliminates a lot of stress!”

Track additionally presents a multitude of options for students and accommodates different student’s abilities with a variety of coaches and skill-sets. As a track member, one may dedicate his or her energy to a number of different running distances from a fifty-­five meter sprint to a two mile run, or a member may develop a passion for field events. Hingham High’s track team is well-regarded and often participates in New England championships.

The crew team’s high expectations parallel track’s optimistic goals. Molly Hendrickson, a member of the girl’s Varsity Crew team, expresses her team’s determination for the forthcoming season. Molly discloses that, “We’ve made it to states in the past, but this year we’re pushing ourselves more than ever before, and we’re more than ready for the victories.” Other sports teams preparing for success this spring are golf, tennis, baseball, softball, and lacrosse.

While a numerous amount of students involve themselves with competitive sports, there are many clubs outside of the field or athletic department that welcome new members and are very active during the time of year.

This spring devise a plan aimed at personal growth with new, stimulating, and gratifying goals!
