As the weather gets warmer, the South Shore welcomes the start of Spring with numerous festivities. With Easter approaching Sunday, March 31, local communities prepare exciting events for those who celebrate.
Each year, Hingham holds a variety of family-friendly events celebrating the joy of Easter. The Easter Bunny Bash, hosted by The Arc of the South Shore in partnership with the Derby Street Shops, is complete with many festive activities. Families can partake in egg hunts, face painting, and, of course, pictures with the Easter bunny.
Another local opportunity to get in the Easter Spirit is the Easter Bunny Breakfast. Each year, the Hingham Women’s Club hosts an annual breakfast at the Hingham Rec Center. This heartwarming event is the perfect opportunity to support the HWC while enjoying a delicious breakfast with Easter-inspired activities.
The Easter fun continues beyond Hingham. Starlands annual Easter Eggstravaganza promises a day of entertainment for the entire family. Starlands Easter celebration goes beyond traditional Easter Bunny pictures, and egg hunts with bounce houses, corn hole, and even a DJ.
Another opportunity to get a picture with the Easter Bunny is at the Paragon Carousels opening weekend in Hull. As part of the carousel opening for the season, Paragon hosts a weekend full of Easter activities. The annual Easter Egg Dash attracts families from around the South Shore as children can enjoy the excitement of looking for hidden eggs.
Each year, families gather at local churches and community centers of the South Shore for traditional egg hunts. Like many others, Sophomore Paige Mcmanus enjoys participating in egg hunts to celebrate Easter. When discussing her family Easter traditions, she explains, “Every year I do an egg hunt with my family. Along with dyeing eggs, it is one of my favorite memories of Easter as a little kid”.
From attending local events to engaging in at-home celebrations, members of the Hingham community have an array of plans to honor the holiday. When asked about her holiday plans, Sophomore Paige Suarez shares, “We are keeping it simple this year and spending time with immediate family for baskets and an egg hunt. We also plan to visit my sister in Boston who goes to college there for a family dinner”.
Easter is a time to gather with family and friends to honor the holiday. Whether hunting for eggs, meeting the Easter Bunny, or simply spending quality time with family, the South Shore is full of tradition.
