The Hingham girls field hockey team here at Hingham High School has certainly started their season off strong. They have played a total of ten games this season, with some of their biggest competitors being Scituate, Marshfield, Hanover, Falmoth and Cohasset. However, Hingham beat most of these teams with confidence. In fact, the girls have won nine out of ten games and tied 1-1 against Cohasset. Therefore, their offensive line is strong, but that does not discount their defense. Their defense is strong as well, with Becca Kardoos and Molly Mcdonald in net. In fact, so far this season, the Hingham girls field hockey team has only had two goals scored against them. Kaitlyn Manning, a defensive midfielder emphasized, “Our defensive line has been extremely strong this season. Despite the fact that we have a lot of new members on our team, all of the defense have been able to communicate well and work together to keep the play out of our defensive circle the majority of the time.” Therefore, it is clear that the defense, as well as the high scoring offensive line, is very talented and reliable, setting the team up for success.
Additionally, Haylen Wilson, a Senior captain who plays forward, just recently reached one hundred points. These points are counted through both goals and assists, with her one hundredth point coming from a corner goal scored by midfielder and junior captain Ryan Hallisy. As an exciting moment for the team, their coach, Mrs. Petrie, requested a timeout from the refs in order to announce the exciting news. Captain Siena Brackett explained, “We were all confused by the timeout when it was first called by coach Petrie, but the second that we all realized Haylen had just reached one hundred points we were all super excited for her and it was a really fun moment to celebrate”. With such a supportive and talented team, the Hingham field hockey team appears very strong and successful.
Clearly, the Hingham girls field hockey team has started their season off especially strong, but they are still ready to work for the rest of their season with many more games to come.
