The end of summer tends to produce many annoyances in day-to-day lives, but one thing we can all get excited about is the delicious foods that fall brings. The changing of the leaves and the colder weather create an atmosphere where people want to stay inside and make themselves comfortable. Enjoy your own cozy element with these fall foods!
- Pumpkin Pie:
Ever since the first Thanksgiving, people have been going mad over this delicious treat. The crispy crust, flavorful filling in the middle, and a dollop of whipped cream on top makes people want autumn to last forever. Whether you bring it to Thanksgiving at your in-laws or make it for your own sweet treat, Pumpkin Pie is always a satisfying indulgence.
2. Chili:
Even non-football fans would agree that preparing and savoring Chili is one of the best ways to spend their fall Sundays. This Mexican dish is great served in a bowl or eaten with tortilla chips. HHS student Abby Zimmerman remarked, “Even though the Patriots aren’t amazing, I still like watching while eating delicious foods like Chili.” Whether it is spicy, mild, or somewhere in between, Chili can be enjoyed by everyone.
3. Apple Cider Donuts:
The best way to start your day on a fall morning is to snack on apple cider donuts. Whether or not they are from a real bakery or the Duncan Donuts down the street, their sweet cinnamon flavor with the cakey texture makes mouths water. Freshman Lexie Grimm states, “When I eat apple cider donuts, I feel like I am actually apple picking.” This delicious snack is many people’s favorite fall treat.
4. Apples
If you are a fan of fall foods but want to eat healthily before the holidays why not try different types of apples? Despite the fact that apples are very common, most people don’t know that there are thousands of different types. Even if you do not go apple picking to harvest your own, grocery stores and farmers markets still have a large variety. Eat them on their own or turn them into scrumptious apple pie or mouthwatering caramel apples.
5. Mac and Cheese
Even though it can be enjoyed all year round, Mac and Cheese is a very appetizing dish for the fall season. It can be savored while watching football, at Thanksgiving dinner, or anytime you are in the mood for rich, creamy comfort food. Add breadcrumbs or bacon on top for extra flavor or texture. Nothing is better than curling up in front of a fire and eating a large helping of Mach and Cheese on a cold autumn day.
