This week, on Monday October 21st, the Unified Basketball team held their annual senior night to commemorate the amazing team spirit and success the seniors and the team itself has had over the past several years. The team came together and had an amazing win against their well matched opponents, North Quincy.
The Unified Basketball team this year is led by Ms. Stanley and supported by nine seniors including their seven captains: Jack Carelton, Paul Grady, Francesco Fulciniti, Lily McCarthy, Mia Gilman, Nora Leary, and Elizabeth Haughey. The captains and seniors did an exceptional job at leading the Unified team throughout the season, and will continue to do so throughout the rest of the year. Their remarkable attitudes and passion both on and off the court set a great example for incoming freshmen and all new unified members in general. Inclusion, effort, and team spirit does not go unnoticed in Unified sports and is amazing to see across all players! Junior Tommy Hartnett – who has been part of unified sports for his entire high school career – remarks, “I’ve seen more team spirit than ever this year, especially from the seniors. They will be missed in upcoming years for their positive attitudes!”
Prior to the senior night match, Hingham held its senior night ceremony during which each fourth year team member was presented with flowers and took the court accompanied by their parents. Junior team manager Addie Phelan who has been a formidable part of Unified sports since her freshman year describes, “Senior night was really well put together! It was awesome to see the hard work they put in pay off, especially with the great win afterwards.” Addie’s attitude towards senior night ultimately portrays how many of the players feel about the amusing senior night game.
Overall, the unified team has had a victorious season this year and is well prepared for the games they have to play. The seniors will be very well missed for their bright spirits and enthusiasm.
