Hingham Girls Field Hockey has a striking record, with only two losses all season to a tough opponent, Sandwich, and one tie to Cohasset. With such a record, Hingham placed 6th on the power rankings for the playoffs, making them a valiant opponent and thrilling team to watch.
As they started their playoff career, this prior Wednesday, November 6th, field hockey faced Malden Catholic, in an intense game to see who proceeded to the elite 8, an honorable title.
Malden Catholic was a tough opponent, ranked 11th on the power rankings, making for a good game. Hingham proved to be a great opponent, coming out with a strong win of 3-1, with goals from junior Ryan Hallisy, junior Sam Ruddick, and junior Sammy Price.
The game started with an amazing goal from right midfielder, Ryan Hallisy, in the first quarter of the game, creating a sensational goal from the top of the circle during a corner. This goal was followed by forward Sam Ruddick, scoring in the second quarter with an amazing tip-in goal from an assist by Junior Ella O’Neill. Lastly, Sammy Price, center mid, was positioned perfectly at the top of the circle, giving her an amazing goal after a rebound from the goalie in the fourth quarter to finish the game off strong.
Coming off this win, Hingham was ecstatic, and also ready to take on NDA to see who commences to the final four. Junior and starting forward Sam Ruddick notes, “It was a very exciting game, and to finish with a win makes the game that much more special. I’m so excited to go on to another round with such an amazing team, and hopefully continue our winning streak.”
Aside from the field players, spectators also had an amazing time watching, as Hingham was in the lead the entire game, making it a low stress game. Spectator and junior CC Flynn states, “It was such a fun game to watch with my friends, and it made me in awe of how good our field hockey team is. I can’t wait to see how far they continue to go! ”
With such great fans, and an amazing and determined team, there is no telling how far Hingham will go in the Playoffs, and it should be a fun journey to watch.
