This 2025 season, the Harborwomen Hockey team finished number one in the Division One Women’s Hockey in the MIAA. Their record was 19-1-1, with their only loss being their last in-season game to St. Mary’s. This impressive record is due to a multitude of factors as CC Flynn, assistant captain and a junior on the team, states “I think we have won so many games because we have a bunch of different grades participating and scoring for us. Our team culture is close, and we are all good friends.”
Another factor is the depth of talent on the roster, which is certainly noticeable. Captain Caroline Doherty recently hit 210 points, setting a new school record. Additionally, Captain Addy Garrity just received her 100th career point. These two on offense are hard to stop and have contributed significantly to each team’s wins. On top of Doherty and Garrity, the Harborwomen’s defense is also a force to reckon with as their goalie Izzy McGarr has had a number of shutouts and has been a starting player since her freshman year.
This past Wednesday, February 26th, 2025, the team played the 32nd seed in the first round of playoffs. They played at home at Pilgrim Rink against Wesleyan High School. The girls came out strong and scored quickly in the first period. The team continued to score, with many different contributors making the final 7-0. This impressive shut-out reflects the team’s combination of skill and mental grit to battle and blow their opponents away. The players of Wednesday’s game were junior Julia Whitney, sophomore Hannah Lasch, and junior goalie Izzy McGarr.
After their win on the 26th, the Harborwomen moved onto the Round of 16 on Saturday, March 1st. In this home game they beat the number 17th seed Shrewsbury 4-2. The Harborwomen started off strong, scoring their first goal within the first minute of the game. The score then went back and forth between the two teams, until the Harborwomen pulled ahead by two in the third and final period. The players of the game were sophomore Shea Richardson, junior Katie Teague, and junior captain CC Flynn.
The future is optimistic for this talented team, and they have a competitive shot of winning the tournament. Sophomore Callie Crean remarked on her team’s success, “The team is feeling good going into the next round, especially after our comeback in the last game. This team is special, and everyone has been working hard on the ice, but beyond we all just care about each other. This group is close on and off the ice which I think is one of the biggest contributors to our team chemistry and makes us stand out.” The team will now move onto the Round of 8 and will play their next game sometime next week.
