Swim and Dive Team Polar Plunge

Laura Lynch and Kristin Saleski

On Sunday, December 7, the Hingham High School Swim and Dive Team braved the 45 degree waters of Hingham Harbor in their 2nd Annual “Polar Plunge.” The water, 45 degrees, was a little warmer than the air and the frigid, bitter wind; but the weather could not stop at least 35 members of the team and community from jumping into the water to raise money. Each “plunger” collected pledges prior to the event. The Polar Plunge is a popular tradition throughout the New England states, in which participants dunk in the winter waters to raise money for a cause. Sunday’s event raised money for the Swim and Dive team, which uses the donations to fund pool space, team events, and team apparel. Thank you to everyone who participated in the event and donated to the Swim and Dive Team!
