Hingham High School offers its students an abundance of opportunities, whether it is clubs, programs, or sports, Hingham has it all in order to give each and every student the chance to reach their goals. However, these offerings are not limited only to the walls of the classroom or the boundaries of the Hingham High Campus; in 2026, the students of Hingham High are able to travel the globe!
As one of the most globally connected schools in the country, Hingham High welcomes foreign exchange students every year from all over the world. Not only this, over the past several years, trips have been offered to students by the Global Citizenship Program and language clubs in order for students to grow and experience new things outside of Hingham.
For 2026, two main trips are being offered to the students of HHS. The first is the amazing Amsterdam-Paris-Brussels trip, which will include travelers visiting Belgium, the Netherlands, and France over April break in the spring of 2026. From April 18 to 25, students have the chance to make their own homemade Belgian chocolate, visit the famous Anne Frank House, and take a canal cruise in Amsterdam. Additionally, they can visit the iconic Palace of Versailles in Paris and explore more of these three beautiful cities in the world! One of the advisors of the trip, Ms. Roth, an English teacher at HHS and founder of the Global Citizenship Program, encourages students to attend the trip: “The Amsterdam-Brussels-Paris trip during April vacation 2026 gives students a chance to visit three different countries. I’m particularly excited about this trip because of the diversity of experiences students will have. There are several hands-on activities: a tailor-made scavenger hunt in Amsterdam, a chocolate-making class in Belgium, and an art workshop in Paris. Also, so many aspects of the HHS curriculum connect to this trip. 10th graders study the Holocaust, and we will be visiting Anne Frank’s home in Amsterdam; 9th graders study the French Revolution, and we will tour Versailles. You don’t have to study French for this trip, but it is a chance to practice that language if you like. Between the Louvre, the Eiffel Tower, the tulips and windmills or the Netherlands–there are so many iconic things to see on this trip. Ms. Black, Ms. Papuga, and I love student travel, and we love seeing how much students grow and mature on international trips. It’s such a mind-expanding and independence-building experience. We’re very excited, and we hope more students will join us.”
Additionally, another trip sponsored for the spring of 2026 is the Spanish trip to Peru! It is a nine-day excursion to Peru, landing in Lima and traveling to all major cities and historic sites of the ancient Incas. From April 17 to 25, students will visit the Sacred Village in Cuzco, touring the Sacsayhuaman Fortress and visiting one of the grand wonders of the world, Machu Picchu. Señora Malerbia, the director of the trip and HHS Spanish teacher, cannot contain her excitement about the trip, stating, “This Spanish language and cultural immersion trip is open to all Hingham High School students in grades 9-12 during the 2025-2026 school year. Over April vacation, travelers will spend eight days traveling by plane, bus, and train to the Sacred Valley, Koricancha Temple, Maras salt ponds, and Machu Picchu, one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. I am most excited to see llamas at Machu Picchu, participate in weaving and ceramics classes, and shop at the local markets!” Not only are these trips being offered, but GCP has a close partnership with CIEE, a company that hosts programs abroad that allow students to travel to another place and study something they are passionate about.
Whether it is studying engineering technology and science in São Paul, Brazil, or learning about Communications, New Media, and Journalism in Seville, Spain, CIEE has it all!
Sophomore Kaylie Fabrizio describes some of these opportunities: “Travel is crucial to our education, not only as students but as humans. Experiencing different cultures and places helps to expand our perspectives and our mindsets.” Furthermore, Coco Berube, a student at HHS, considering the France-Belgium-Amsterdam trip says, “I feel so grateful even to consider taking a trip like this. All of these trips include life-changing experiences that also help us to learn more about the world!”
All programs and trips offer extensive opportunities for scholarships and financial aid, as well as give students the opportunity to explore different countries and cultures around the world!
