The October weather may be cold, but the energy in TD Garden is not this 2025-2026 season.
Under the new leadership of head coach Marco Sturm, the Bruins have come out flying with an undefeated 3-0 opening stretch to the season, winning their first three games against the Washington Capitals, Chicago Blackhawks, and Buffalo Sabres.
The Bruins took home their first win in their opener against the Capitals, dominating the game and coming out with a 3-1 win. They went on to battle three periods into overtime to secure a hard fought victory against the Chicago Blackhawks. Finally, this past Saturday, they continued their winning streak with yet another 3-1 win against the Buffalo Sabres, marking the fourth time in seven seasons that the Bruins have started with three consecutive wins.
Junior Natalie Shaw commented on the exciting opening to the season that for her, “gives hope that the Bruins will be able to make a run for the cup this year in the playoffs!”
A few key players have played vital roles in the Bruins success early on, including the experienced goaltending pair of Jeremy Swayman and Joonas Korpisalo. Coach Sturm has stated that they will begin the season by employing a strategy of rotating goalies and with both goaltenders posting impressive starts, the team looks to continue this approach.
In particular, Swayman has started out very strong, recording two stellar performances by making 35 saves against the Capitals and 21 against the Sabres. Korpisalo also had an impressive performance of 21 saves on 24 shots against the Chicago Blackhawks, getting the Bruins into overtime to take home the win in his season debut.
Senior Alexa Harris stated, “I’ve been so impressed with their performance so far this year!”
David Pastrnak, Elias Lindholm, and Morgan Geekie reappear with last years chemistry on the first line, scoring 7 points so far. Additionally, both Pavel Zacha and Elias Lindholm have maintained three game point streaks which has contributed to the Bruins’ offensive output. Rookie Fraser Minten has had a promising start as well, demonstrating his skill by scoring the overtime winner against the Blackhawks and recording twelve hits this season so far. Another notable strength on the team has been the Bruins penalty kill with a perfect record of twelve successful kills and no goals against.
There is no doubt that the Bruins have come out flying to start this 2025-26 season and it is definitely worth checking out some games this week! They hit the road for trips against the Vegas Golden Knights, Colorado Avalanche, and Utah Mammoth.
