The Girls Hingham Field Hockey team finished out their season on November 15, 2025. As the number one seed, they took on the number three seed, Somerset Berkley. Although it did not end the way they would have hoped with a 3-0 loss, the girls were overjoyed with their record breaking season. Senior Sam Ruddick commented, “We were all so happy to be there, and are so grateful for our coaches. Overall, I am so sad to be leaving this team as these girls are like family.”
Being finalists in the Division 2 State Championship marked the furthest round they have ever made it in the state tournament. Throughout the past four years, this team has not only won countless games, but has continued to break records every year. In the 2023 season, the girls made it to their first Final Four round in the history of the program. The next year, they took on Somerset Berkley again in the Final Four round, but unfortunately lost. At the start of the 2025 season, the team was motivated to move further into the season and hopefully get past the semi-finals. On November 13, 2025, Hingham defeated Canton High School 4-1, breaking their curse and finally making it to the championship.
Although the team had a tremendous year, they had many individual players that stood out. Five players on the team were awarded All Star, which included Ryan Hallisey, Kaitlyn Manning, Sam McCabe, Emily Kiernan, and Sammy Price. Ryan Hallisey also received the League MVP. Madeleine Accettella was awarded League Scholar-Athlete, and Izzy McGarr received the League Sportsmanship award! Finally, Ella O’Neill finished her Hingham Field Hockey career with 50+ career goals, and Ryan Hallisey made it to 100 career points.
With thirteen seniors on the team, Hingham Field Hockey will be saying goodbye to an extreme amount of talent, but will also thrive in the future as four sophomores were recognized for the Rising Sophomore Squad, including Libby Baxter, Claire LaRonde, Maggie O’Neill, and Sam McCabe. Junior Kaylie Fabrizio mentioned, “This team has come so far, and I am going to miss the seniors so much. I am so lucky to be a part of such an amazing program and I cannot wait to see the team succeed in the future.” Hingham Girls Field Hockey has broken countless records in the past four years, and will hopefully continue to do so!
