The Hingham High Ski Team kicked off the season in exciting fashion with time trials held on December 14th at Ragged Mountain in New Hampshire. With wonderful snow conditions and clear energy from start to finish, the day proved to be competitive yet always fun for everyone participating.
Skiers took on the course with confidence, pushing themselves and cheering on their teammates between runs. The skiing was great but towards the end the course began to reveal ice. The great conditions allowed for racers to showcase their skills and start the early season off strong. Laughter, encouragement, and fast runs defined the atmosphere this weekend, making the time trials great competition and fun for all.
Leading the way for Hingham Girls was Libby Rogers, who delivered 2 great runs, getting 1st place for both. Her run set a powerful standard and highlighted the hard work the team has put in leading up to the season.
Hingham has some amazing racers ready to take on the competition this season. The girls team hopes to gain first place in the league with some great additions to the team this season. The boys team grew with some other great additions to the team hoping to push the team higher in rankings this season.
Racers had a great time getting back on the slopes. Skier Ella Falconeri says, “I was scared at first for time trials but when I was at the start gate it was fine and the run was actually really fun.” Many racers including Ella felt the pre-race jitters, but once they got on the hill all their worries were gone. Hingham racer Adeline Kelley remarks, “Ski team is such a close knit community. Even the beginning of the season felt like we already had an entire season together. Time trials went well with everyone having two runs, a little bit icy at the end but a great day!”
Overall, the December 14th time trials were a big success for the Hingham High Ski Team. With great races, strong team spirit, ideal skiing conditions was a great start to the rest of the winter season at Ragged Mountain.
