Hingham Boys and Girls basketball teams have the annual double header game this Friday against Whitman-Hanson. The double header usually gets huge crowds as it is one of the most attended regular season games for both teams. Hingham Girls Basketball plays at 5:00 pm, and Hingham Boys tips off at 6:30 pm.
Hingham Girls Basketball has been off to a hot start this season, as they are 7-1 so far. They showed a strong team connection as they beat NDA with a comeback win. They have been winning games convincingly. They have limited opponents’ scoring throughout most of their games this season.
Whitman-Hanson Girls’ basketball has always been strong, coming off an Elite Eight run last year in the tournament. Every year, Whitman-Hanson and Hingham Girls Basketball always compete against each other, leading to one of the best games of the season.
Hingham Boys Basketball tips off at 6:30 pm on Friday night. The Boys basketball team has had a slower start to the season as they are 3-6 so far. They have a young team that has faced some adversity at the beginning of the season. They are coming off a close loss to Plymouth North, and they are looking for a big win on Friday.
The Whitman-Hanson Boys basketball team is a tough component. They have been one of Hingham’s rivals every year. It seems like Hingham vs. Whitman-Hanson is always a good game. Junior on Hingham Basketball, Matthew Stratton says, “We are going to fight until the end and once that last whistle blows hopefully we will have done enough to win.” Hingham players seem pumped up for this game as it is their second home game on a Friday.
This would be a big win for the boys basketball team and it would put them in the right direction for the remainder of their season. This double header always brings a huge crowd in Hingham. Junior at Hingham High School, Luke Hamilton says, “I love coming to watch and support my friends. I think both games will be close but hopefully Hingham comes out with a win in both games.” The crowd is going to bring energy to both games.
