On January 7th at the Hingham Service Club meeting, a new committee was announced: Care and Share!
The Service Club at HHS comprises eight committees: Generations Connect, Cancer Kids First, Free Period Talk, Empowering Women, Play it Forward, Senior Center Tech Assistance Project, Animal Advocates, and the newly formed Care and Share!
Care and Share’s goal is to help homeless shelters and food pantries by supporting those in need. They achieve this by donating essentials for quality of living and the food they need to be successful.
President Eva Perine shares, “Care and Share is very important to me because I grew up volunteering at food pantries and doing drives with my mom to support our local shelters and I wanted to give others the opportunity to volunteer and make an impact on others’ lives. Every month we meet to find out how we can help different pantries and shelters and provide them with the necessities they need.”
Vice President Ellie Rogers adds, “Care and Share is a new subcommittee of the Service Club dedicated to helping shelters and food pantries provide food and other essentials to those in need. This club is so important to me because I’ve always been drawn to helping those who aren’t fortunate enough to easily afford three meals a day.”
Additionally, Secretary Grace Whiting expresses, “Care and Share is a great way for people to connect and I’m so happy that I get to be a part of it! It teaches us how to care for others and the community is great!”
Many of the members of Care and Share also share a common passion for helping others with food insecurity. Not only does this club benefit the community in Hingham, but it also benefits the Greater Boston area with contributions to many different food banks and charities.
Those with a desire to help those in need should join Care and Share to advocate for and assist those in need suffering from homelessness or food insecurity!
