The Boston Bruins have a record of 32 wins and 20 losses through 102 games in their 102nd NHL season, putting them in the playoff race. However, this record does not define the entirety of the season so far, as their campaign has contained ups and downs, including both winning and losing streaks.
In the month of January, they are 11-2, proving they are amongst the stronger teams in the NHL. They have been particularly successful while playing at home at TD Garden, through a strong defensive core and goalkeeping that have kept leads.
In their recent matchup against the Nashville Predators, the Bruins won 3-2 after a quick game-winning goal 15 seconds into overtime. Players like Morgan Geekie and David Pastranak extended their point streaks, showing the team’s diverse scoring abilities.
Fellow Bruins fans at Hingham High School also see a positive growth in Boston’s ongoing season. Sophomore Colin Patterson stated, “The mix of veterans and rising contributors creates the perfect team chemistry. I see the Bruins going far in the playoffs for the first time in years.” His opinion is quite similar to that of other sports analysts, who also noticed impressive performances by several players.
While road inconsistency and injuries have tested the team, the Bruins have responded well to adversity, time and time again. Their ability to pull out a win in a close game, displayed by their performance on Tuesday night, shows the discipline of head coach Marco Sturm. Sturm was recently hired in June, with plenty of experience as he coached Germany to Olympic success and formerly played for the Bruins.
Sophomore Connor Elio stated, “Marco Sturm has certainly made a quick turnaround for the Bruins. With aggressive coaching styles and knowledge of his players, I believe each game brings more and more promises for a bright future.”
The recent wins for the Boston Bruins have reinforced their identity as a resilient and feared opponent for the rest of the NHL. They are building momentum at the right time in the season, and at this rate, the battles on the horizon are yet another test for their long-term success.
