Valentine’s Day is such a fun holiday that can be celebrated in so many ways. One fun way that people celebrate this holiday is by baking. There are so many different recipes people can bake to make fun and festive desserts.
One fun thing to bake is basic sugar cookies. Although this may be a simple recipe that people use all year round, there are so many fun ways to decorate sugar cookies and make them festive for any holiday, in this case Valentines Day. Pink, red, and white frostings may be used in order to make these cookies festive, along with sprinkles, and many other candies. Maggie O’Neill loves sugar cookies, especially Valentine’s Day themed ones, and she says ”I love sugar cookies and love how you can decorate them differently for each holiday!”
Another simple dessert that is festive for Valentine’s Day is chocolate covered strawberries. Making these only takes two ingredients, chocolate and strawberries. Valentines Day is a time filled with chocolate and colors such as pink and red, and through chocolate covered strawberries you get both of these aspects of the holiday. Just like cookies, you can also decorate the strawberries with different colored chocolate, making them even more festive.
A third recipe that is fun to bake in February is chocolate raspberry cake. Although chocolate cake may be more difficult to make than the other recipes mentioned, it is so tasty if you have the time. Chocolate is seen to be a romantic thing and a large representation of Valentine’s Day. Chocolate cake’s main ingredient is chocolate, making it a very festive and romantic dessert to make during this time of year. Along with this, raspberries represent the pink and red colors that are usually displayed during the season and celebration of Valentine’s Day. Although adding raspberries may add to the celebration and representation of Valentine’s Day, they also help make the cake so much better! Senior Emily Kiernan talked about how she loves chocolate cake with both strawberries and raspberries and how she believes that it is a perfect thing to bake during this time of year. She notes, “Chocolate cake with both raspberries and strawberries is such a good dessert any time of year, but especially during Valentines Day season!”
