The Hingham Girls’ Basketball senior night took place on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, and celebrated the team’s two seniors, Anna Post and Sarah Nayoukas.
The game started with a ceremony dedicated to the seniors. This included a number of decorations such as a large balloon arch, posters, and roses. The families of the seniors took photos while friends and the team demonstrated their love and support for the girls, cheering them on. Coach Roland Millien gave a speech about Anna Post and Sarah Nayoukas’s years on the team and dedication to the game, touching the hearts of many in the crowd.
From the very start of the game, the girls stayed even with the North Plymouth girls, playing a relatively low scoring but aggressive first quarter. During the second quarter, the girls began to take an increasing lead on North Plymouth, and by the end of the third quarter, Hingham had doubled the score of North Plymouth, bringing it to 36-18!
The gym was electric with the energy of the players and supporters. The game ended with Hingham up at 47-27, keeping the Plymouth North girls at a small score! As seniors Sarah Nayoukas and Anna Post subbed out in the last three minutes of the game, the stands gave them a standing ovation for their hard work they have put in for Hingham Girls Basketball over the years as they celebrated the end of one of their final regular-season games.
Spectator of the game, sophomore Dee Sweeney, speculates that, “It was nice to see the seniors with their family and to watch them play. Everyone played so well, and it was a very exciting game! Throughout the season, I have seen the girls play and improve together, and it has been so fun to watch. This senior night was a great sendoff, and I’m so proud of the hard work they put in.”
While the end of the regular season is bittersweet, the student body at Hingham High can’t wait to see where the girls go in the playoffs this year, as they have majorly improved as a team!
Another supporter of the team, Amelia Byrne, states that, “I’ve heard that the girls’ basketball team is doing great this year and had a very strong start to the season. I can’t believe the regular season is already coming to an end, and I can’t wait to see where the girls go in the playoffs.”
Some highlight players from the game include Kate McBride with 10 points and Eileen Lowther with 10 points and 12 rebounds, obtaining a double-double for the game! A double-double happens when any player hits double digits in at least two of the categories, such as points and rebounds.
As the girls continue to shine and support each other on the court, their families and friends will be there cheering them on, as was demonstrated by the strong sense of community on Tuesday night.
