First Game: Kentucky vs. Wisconsin

Kentucky Wildcats:

Without a doubt, John Calipari has made his team a universal favorite to win the Men’s College Basketball Championship this year. His team with three projected NBA lottery picks in sophomore Willie Cauley Stein, and two freshmen Karl Anthony Towns and Devin Booker has played great basketball this year with a team first mentality game in and game out, earning them an undefeated record so far (380). The Wildcats have enough size in their ten man rotation (an average of 6 feet 8 inches) to stop any offense, even the Notre Dame’s very efficient offense in the Elite Eight round of the tournament. Also, “role” players like Aaron Harrison, twin brother Andrew Harrison, Trey Lyles, and Tyler Ulis, the Kentucky players who would be go to guys on any other team have helped out greatly hitting big shots in tight games and playing gritty, hustle defense. With size and strength to beat any opposing team and a team camaraderie unlike any others, Kentucky has got to be the outright favorite to win it all this year.

Wisconsin Badgers:

Bo Ryan has done it again. He has took his team to the Final Four. With two national championships since 2001, one more would solidify his spot in sports history. This year with senior, Frank Kaminsky and junior Sam Dekker as his two stars, Kentucky will certainly have one of their biggest tests this season. Ryan has preached to his team a San Antonio Spursesque type of play, old-school, pass first, team basketball. Ryan throughout the years have molded plenty of talent from under recruited freshmen just like the three out of five star recruit Frank Kaminsky. Kaminsky, now a senior, has averaged 19 points and 8 rebounds per games. Bo Ryan has taught his team very well, now all they have to do is beat the undefeated team in Kentucky.

Second Game: Michigan State vs. Duke

Duke:

Dukes coach, Coach K, has taken his team to the Final Four more than any of the other coaches in the NCAA. He has this team locked and loaded, with talent in the inside in center Jahlil Okafor and on the outside in point guard Tyus Jones and small forward, Justise Winslow. Jones has exploded as a freshmen and Okafor has been as phenomenal as expected in his freshman year. If Okafor can play solid defense on his matchup against possibly Branden Dawson, they can easily get to the final game with their high scoring offense this year.

Michigan State:

How does he do it? That’s what everyone is asking about Tom Izzo getting back to the Final Four. He has done the near impossible in bringing his team all the way after losing his two top players to the NBA. Izzo has produced a lot out of many hustle players and notsotalented players like power forward Brandon Dawson, Travis Trice (arguably best point guard left), and an unlikely hero throughout the season, Denzel Valentine. The fact of the matter is, Izzo has done a great job period. Even with a poor regular season, they earned a seven seed. The Spartans have had the hardest road out of the whole four teams and still have managed to either cruise or win in tight games. With a band of unheralded players, Izzo has turned the boys from Lansing to a “Cinderella” team looking for a memorable national championship game. With their grit and desire, the Michigan State Spartans can beat almost anyone in the field.
