The Polar Plunge
December 14, 2015
On Sunday, December 13th, 2015, Hingham High School’s Swim and Dive team hosted their third annual Polar Plunge. Swimmers, divers, coaches, family, and friends alike gathered at Hingham Bathing Beach to brave the cold for this charitable event. Divers and swimmers were encouraged to raise money from their family and friends, and non team members were required to donate $10 to join in on the fun. All together, the team raised over $2,000 to be sent to the team’s account and to provide for the end of the year banquet, gifts, and more.
Although windy, this Sunday proved to be perfect for the Polar Plunge. Plungers were greeted upon baked goods and grilled food upon arrival. The team captains soon gathered everyone up for pictures, and then set up for the brief, chilling dip into the winter waters. The plungers were off, sprinting in and back out again, running for towels, blankets, hot cocoa and s’mores. Hingham High School’s Swim and Dive team third annual Polar Plunge was an overall success, and the team looks forward to their upcoming season, including their first meet this Wednesday.
