Holiday Pumpkin Pie Recipe

Rachel Jensen, Junior Editor

The holidays are right around the corner and with the holidays comes a craving for something sweet.  Despite the association of pumpkin flavors with earlier in the fall season, a perfect treat for this holiday season is a pumpkin pie.   According to junior Rose McDonald, “pumpkin pie is one of the best desserts and always very delicious”. Here is an excellent recipe for the delectable treat:

First, you need to gather all of the ingredients.

1 Tablespoon of Cornstarch

½ Teaspoon of Cinnamon

½ Teaspoon of Ginger

½ Teaspoon of Nutmeg

½ Teaspoon of Salt

1 ½ Tablespoons of Butter (melted)

1 Can of Pumpkin Purée

1 ½ Cups of Milk

1 Cup of Sugar

1/8 Cup of Molasses

2 Eggs (beaten)

Dash of Lemon Juice (optional)

Second, now that you have all of the necessary ingredients, sift the sugar, cornstarch, salt, cinnamon, ginger, and nutmeg together.

Third, mix your sifted ingredients with the pumpkin purée and add the eggs, melted butter, molasses and milk.  If you want, you can also add a dash of lemon juice to your mixture at this point.

Fourth, line a pie plate (preferably a 9-inch pie plate) with dough for the crust and pour in your mixture.

Fifth, bake the pie at 450 degrees for 15 minutes.  After the 15 minutes are over, reduce the temperature to 350 degrees and continue to bake the pie for 50 minutes.

At the end of the 50 minutes, the pie should be baked thoroughly.  The only thing left to do is to enjoy!
