This Sunday the Patriots set out to play their division rival, the Miami Dolphins. With both teams at 1-3 this is an incredibly important game that could change the course of either teams’ seasons.
Both the Patriots and the Dolphins have big problems with their respective offenses which have been strongly affecting their records. The Dolphins’ star quarterback, Tua Tagovailoa, is out with his second concussion in two years. This leaves the team with their triple backup quarterback, Tyler Huntley, as their starter. Even though the Dolphins have an incredible amount of offensive weapons, like Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, and Devon Achane, they have been struggling without a good quarterback. They have now lost three games in a row due to this major issue on their offense. Not only that, but their defense is struggling as well. In the past three games they have lost by deficits of over twenty. In two of those games their defense has allowed 31 points. The Dolphins are also suffering from many defensive injuries this week.
The Patriots, on the other hand, have been struggling on the offensive side as well. They have had quarterback issues for different reasons than the Dolphins. Their quarterbacks are all healthy but are having issues performing this season. Many fans are arguing about whether to put in rookie quarterback Drake Maye, or veteran Jacoby Brissett. Jacoby Brisett has been struggling in recent weeks due to the other problems on the Patriots offense such as the struggling offensive line and the poor receiving core. It will also be much harder for the offense this week due to a recent injury. Their starting center, David Andrews, recently suffered a shoulder injury that required him to get surgery that would leave him out for the season. This hole on the O-line will be a major problem for them this weekend. The Patriots defense has been doing pretty well but has been ravaged by injuries.
This game is looking like it could be a very even matchup, even with the problems that both teams face. People at Hingham High school are torn on the results of the game. Patriots sports fan and Hingham High Junior, John Leone said, “I believe Jacoby Brisset will have a decent game like he has been doing all year, but I think it won’t be enough to beat the dolphins especially with the trouble of the o line, against the Miami pass rush.”Others believe the opposite, and think the Patriots can come out with the win. Hingham High Junior, Will Crespi said, in regards to the game, “With Tua out on the Dolphins, I think the Patriots can come out with the win.” This will be quite the matchup and will take place in Foxboro on Sunday, October 6th at 1:00 pm.
