On Thursday, May 31, Hingham High School’s Class of 2019 hosted its Senior Prom at Granite Links Country Club in Quincy. This long awaited event marked the last memory seniors would share before graduating on Saturday morning.

The festivities began as prom attendees arrived at the Hingham Bathing Beach late Thursday afternoon and walked down the red carpet. Prom goers and “fans” posed for photos along the bathing beach for nearly an hour before boarding party buses, limos, and trolleys and heading for the prom.

Arriving at 7:00, prom goers entered Granite Links to find elegant tables set up for dinner, a balcony overlooking golf courses and the Boston skyline, and a dance floor decorated with Class of 2019 balloons.

Attendees took their seats and were served dinner before heading to the dance floor. The rest of the night was followed by dances and photos, as well as reminders of all the class has accomplished. At 11:00, the night had ended and prom goers left prom on their party buses. This event marked a last memory the class would share before graduation just two days later.

A number of seniors view the event as sentimental. Senior Lily Deneen reflects, “I can’t believe prom is over- it’s crazy to think that our next event is graduation.”

In addition to the high number of seniors in attendance, a few freshmen, sophomores, and juniors also attended after being invited by members of the senior class. Junior Riley Potter shares, “It was really great to go this year, and seeing how much fun all of the seniors were having knowing that it was only a couple of days before graduation gets me really excited for prom next year!”
