Travis Kelce from the Kansas City Chiefs.

This Sunday, January 29th, 4 teams will face off in an attempt to make it to the Super Bowl. The four teams remaining are the San Francisco 49ers, the Kansas City Chiefs, the Baltimore Ravens, and the Detroit Lions. The first game will take place in Baltimore at 3:00 PM with the Kansas City Chiefs facing the Ravens. Kansas City has a record of 11-6, while the Ravens record is 13-4. The second game is set for 6:30 PM with the 49ers against the Lions, with the San Francisco 49ers as the hosts. Both the 49ers and the Lions records are 12-5. With injuries for both quarterbacks in the playoffs last year, the 49ers are hoping for a better game this year that is injury free, and the Lions are seeking their first ever appearance in the Superbowl.

Not only have the Lions never been to the Superbowl, they have also not had a playoff win since 1957. Not to mention they have some tough competition with the 49ers being the top seed. However, coming off a tough win last game, the Lions are ready to go and full of confidence.

Throughout HHS there are many different outcome hopes for these two games. For example sophomore Ella O’Neil expressed, “I want the 49ers to win considering their chances were destroyed last year when Brock Purdy tore his UCL in the NFC championship. I think it will be a great comeback from last year”. However Sophomore Max Friedman expressed a different perspective on the situation by saying, “I feel that the Ravens and the Lions should be the two teams to make it to the SuperBowl. The Ravens had the best defense this season and dominated their last game against the Texans. Also, the Lions are the only team in the NFC to have never experienced a SuperBowl”.

Not to mention, with Taylor Swift dating Travis Kelce the views from unlikely fans have skyrocketed. Taylor Swift has one of the largest fan bases, and since she is watching and attending the Chief’s games, so are many of her fans. In fact, senior Lily Somaska explained, “my eleven year old sister, who is not normally an NFL viewer, attently watched every Chiefs game for a Taylor Swift celebration”. Hence, there are a lot of Taylor Swift fans hoping for the Chiefs appearance in the SuperBowl, which will likely heighten the amount of people viewing the first game at 3:00 PM. So, who are you voting for?
