On Saturday, January 17, 2026, the Seattle Seahawks defeated the San Francisco 49ers 41-7, sending them to the NFC Championship Game. Just one win away from another Super Bowl appearance, the Seattle Seahawks have put on an elite 2026 campaign. Finishing among the top seven teams in the NFL for both offensive yards per game and defensive yards allowed per game, the Seahawks defense re-earned themselves the nickname, “The Legion of Boom.” Additionally, quarterback Sam Darnold finished fifth in the NFL in passing yards, meanwhile wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba finished first in the NFL in receiving yards.
The Seahawks offense has shown no signs of slowing down in the playoffs, and is projected to be the 2026 Super Bowl champions. Smith-Njigba has been a key part to the Seahawks 2025-26 dominance thus far, and has stamped his name in the record books, becoming one of 16 players in NFL history to surpass 1,700 receiving yards in a season. His 1,793 receiving yards is listed as the 8th most receiving yards in a season of all time, and the most in Seattle Seahawks franchise history.
Smith-Njigba’s dominance was not completed by himself, with quarterback Sam Darnold paving his way. Darnold completed the 2025-26 regular season surpassing 4,000 passing yards, putting him top five in the NFL in that category. The young quarterback has taken a major role in leading this talented team to the NFL Conference Championship game, and hopefully bring home a Super Bowl for Seattle.
I interviewed two junior football enthusiasts at Hingham High School to get their input on the Seahawks Dominance. Junior JT Reale commented on the Seahawks play this season, saying, “They have been a fun team to watch. Their defense is full of energy, and they hit hard. Plus, their wide receiver is unguardable.” With the Seahawks having arguably the best defense in the NFL, it is hard to say they haven’t been exciting to watch.
In addition to JT Reale, HHS junior Grady Ward was asked the question, “Who has the best chance of winning the Super Bowl, and why?” He responded, “Seahawks, for sure. JSN (Jaxon Smith-Njigba) is legit, and the numerous weapons that team (the Seahawks) have on offense is out of this world. Plus, they have the Legion of Boom defense… That team is scary and unstoppable!”
Clearly, the Seattle Seahawks are a fan favorite in HHS, with their defense and stud wide receiver, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, making them the favorite.
