The Hingham Girls Lacrosse team has had a great start to the seasons with a record of 3-1, dropping their only game to NDA. The team is made up of multi sport athletes and has the hustle and skills to be one of the best. So far the Harborwomen have played against NDA, Quincy, North Quincy, and Scituate.
The Harborwomen first played NDA on March 27th losing 5-13. In the first quarter Hingham was down by only one and was able to shut NDA off defensively. As the game progressed it was a hard fought battle with Maeve Maroney and Vivien Nicholas both scoring 2 goals and Emily Kiernan scoring 1. Goalie Lila Donahue also had some amazing saves that kept the girls in the game!
Their next two games were against Quincy and North Quincy where Hingham remained victorious winning by more than 10 in both games. In the game vs. North Quincy, Jenna Varholak led the team for the offense with 5 goals contributing to the win. On the defensive end, Caroline Leahy had 4 caused turnovers. Continuing on the offensive side, Maeve Maroney, Lindsay Carr, Emily Kiernan, and Kylie Mcaloon all added 2 points to the score board during the North Quincy game this past week. Combined, Maeve Maroney, Mia Milligan, and Maggie Pollenz had 10 draw controls!
This past Thursday, the team played Scituate and won 8-5. The game was a battle from start to finish with the Harborwomen being the projected team to win. Maeve Maroney again led the offensive side with 6 points. Maggie Corey led the defensive with 3 cause turnovers shutting down the Sailor’s offense. Hingham’s defense showed their skills causing many caused turnovers and missed shots. Lila Donahue had some great saves greatly contributing to the win!
Many people have enjoyed watching the Harborwomen play and are excited to see their development as the season progresses. Lila Donoghue says, “The season has been a lot of fun so far and I am really looking forward to how our team continues to get better as the season goes on! We had a lot of hustle again Scituate and it was a great game!”
Similarly from a spectators perspective, Caroline Allen says, “The games are super fun to watch and I can’t wait to see how far the team will go!”
