The “superteam” Los Angeles Rams have gotten off to a shaky start to the 2026-2027 season, sitting below .500 at 2-4 after a week six loss to the Arizona Cardinals. This shaky start included losses to the Arizona Cardinals, San Francisco 49ers, Denver Broncos, and Buffalo Bills. These persistent losses have undermined preconceived notions of greatness from the Los Angeles fans and NFL fans everywhere, and that was with a healthy Davante Adams- one of the best wide receivers in the league. When asked about his coming absence, Hingham High School student Harper Ewer was quoted as saying the injury is, “Detrimental to the Rams supposed super team who has underperformed already this year.”
Adams has been a staple at the wide out position since joining the National Football League in 2014 with the Green Bay Packers. He would then go on to play for the Las Vegas Raiders, New York Jets, and finally the Los Angeles Rams. During his time in the league, he has racked up over 1000 receptions for over 13,000 yards, as well as a whopping 121 touchdowns.
The injury itself is a partial hamstring tear, a significant enough injury that will require surgery. Multiple Rams coaches and NFL insiders have called this a “clean up surgery”. This makes sense to the public, as he has had injuries to this very same hamstring before this instance, and was playing through some known pain last Sunday.
The Rams will have tough shoes to fill following the injury to their superstar wide receiver, as well as the smaller scale injury to their wide receiver one, MVP contender in Puka Nacua. Also, their elite defensive tackles, Poona Ford and Kobie Turner are dealing with injuries. Despite the losses and injuries, some NFL fans still hold out hope for this Los Angeles Rams team. Hingham High School student Kian Thayer is among them, saying, “I personally think the Rams will turn their season around. After a bad loss against the Cardinals, they will bounce back this week despite the absence of Puka and Adams. Mathew Stafford will find his MVP potential again and the Rams will start rolling.”
