On February 10 at 6 pm, the Harborwomen hockey team played Quincy for their senior night at Pilgrim Skating Rink. The seniors Sara Menesale, Isabel McCabe, and Reese Pompeo were celebrated before the game during the pictures with their parents on the ice. Then, the game began.

The girls started the game with high energy as many notable goals were scored. However, the team became extremely excited as junior Caroline Doherty scored her 100th goal. She became the second ever player to do this in Hingham High School and doing so as a junior is even more impressive. Caroline is a crucial part of the team as a leading goal scorer and play maker.

Additionally, more energy was added as two players became new goal scorers, senior Sara Menesale and sophomore Julia Whitney.  After this tremendous accomplishment, Sara was named Athlete of the Week by College Hype and was also named a senior captain.

Everyone was thrilled as these girls got to celebrate their new accomplishments. The team constantly dominated on the ice and kept the energy and motivation high throughout the entirety of the game. They had an amazing work ethic and clearly supported each other immensely and took pride in each other’s accomplishments.

Overall, the girls won 8-0 and now look ahead towards the state tournament. After the game sophomore CC Flynn said, “It was a super fun game, everyone was getting hype and the energy was awesome. It was nice to have a fun chill game leading up to states.”

Similarly, new goal scorer sophomore Julia Whitney, also states, “The game will be a game to remember and one of the best games I have ever played. It will forever be iconic to me and to the program.”

States approach quickly and the team still has several games in preparation for this. For example, they play Whitman Hanson at 6:40 pm this Wednesday in a surely exciting away game.

Currently, Hingham is ranked 5th in the power rankings and this will guarantee them at least a couple home games where they will have a large student section cheering them on.
