Now that halloween is upon us, many people are searching for fun fall recipes to make with their family and friends. Fortunately, there is a surplus of different recipes ranging from breads to all types of baked goods. One particularly popular flavor of baked goods during the fall is pumpkin.
One favorite pumpkin treat is pumpkin bread. Pumpkin bread is a simple recipe that is easy to make with kids or friends. The typical ingredients in pumpkin bread are flour, salt, baking powder, butter, sugar, eggs, pumpkin puree, and a surplus of spices including cloves, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Not only is this a simple recipe that results in a delicious treat, it will also leave your house smelling delicious! In fact, senior Brenna Doherty recalled, “Pumpkin bread is one of my fall favorites! I love the taste and the aroma it leaves in my house is an added plus.”
On the topic of pumpkins, many people carve this category of squash during the fall and throw away the guts and seeds they dig out before carving. However, if you are planning to carve a pumpkin any time soon, you may want to preserve the seeds and make roasted pumpkin seeds. Roasted pumpkin seeds are healthy and easy to make. You can simply rinse and dry the seeds, then roast them with salt, pepper, and other spices of your choosing.
Another prominent fall ingredient is apples. Many people go apple picking during the fall and use the apples to make various treats. One of my personal favorites is apple crisp. Apple crisp is another simple yet traditional fall dish. The typical ingredients include sugar, cinnamon, oats, flour, salt, butter, and, of course, apples. Senior Jack MacLachlan commented on this treat: “Apple crisp is one of my absolute favorite fall desserts and I like eating it all year round. I like to make apple crisp with my mom and it is always a simple and easy process. I prefer to eat my apple crisp warm and with vanilla ice cream.”
Overall, there are a surplus of fall treats but above are some simple, fun, and delicious recipes you can try this fall. If you are interested in any of these desserts I hope you look up a recipe online and enjoy!
