Congratulations Class of 2016

This past Saturday, June 4, on a perfect sunny afternoon, the class of 2016 graduated from Hingham High School.

Mr. Cincotta directed the HHS’s band’s rendition of Theme from Pomp and Circumstance” and while the graduates entered the field, led by class advisers Ms. Tortola and Ms. Van Leuvan.

Principal Paula Girouard McCann offered some opening remarks before introducing School Committee Chair Liza O’Reilly. Ms. O’Reilly reminded the graduates that, similar to when they began preschool and left their parents for an extended time during the day, they are now embarking on a new adventure.

Salutatorian Mark McNiskin addressed his classmates as did Valedictorian Samantha Garland, who shared with her classmates ten life lessons she learned from martial arts. Finally, class speaker Josh Crosby discussed the hopeful “Promise of a Generation” and Colleen Collins, this class’s class president all four years of high school, closed the speeches portion of the ceremony.

The sun set slowly over the field as the graduates made their way between the rows of white and red and under a few bouncing beach balls to retrieve their diplomas.

Congratulations class of 2016. Good luck on your next adventure.
