HHS Welcomes some New Teachers

This year Hingham High will be home to seven new teachers and a new school psychologist. Here is a list of the new staffers with their pictures by department.

English Department: Courtney Foley and Gustav Haflin.
Courtney Foley is a full time teacher who will be teaching ninth and tenth grade English classes. She graduated from Boston University with a BS in English Education and a BA in English. She is also the freshman volleyball coach this year at HHS.

Gustav Haflin is a part time teacher/paraprofessional who will be teaching one ninth grade English class and one semester of the twelfth grade seminar class Modern Dilemmas. The remainder of the school day he will be working as a paraprofessional in other English classes. He graduated from Western New England College with a BA in English Literature where he also participated in the secondary education program.

Spanish Department: Stacey Pretti
Stacey Pretti is the new Spanish teacher at Hingham High. She will be teaching sections of Spanish I, II, and III. Ms. Pretti graduated from Roger Williams University in Bristol, RI, with a BA in foreign language and has done graduate work at the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth and the Boston Language Institute.

Family and Consumer Sciences Department: Lauren Bourassa
Lauren Bourassa is replacing Estelle Cowie-Bryan, who retired in June. She will teach Foods I, Foods II, Global Foods, and Interior Design. She graduated from the State University of New York at Oneonta with a BS in family consumer science and received her MS in health education from Kaplan University in Davenport, Iowa.

Science Department: Gary Forrester and Jacqueline Beaupré
Gary Forrester stepped in last fall to take over for Ms. Marcks level 2 and AP physics classes when she became ill and was unable to finish the year. He will continue to teach these classes this year. In addition to teaching, he is a mentor for the HHS Robotics team. Mr. Forrester earned a BS in physics and mathematics from Bridgewater State University and a MS in physics from UMass Dartmouth where he also completed courses towards a doctorate.

Jacqueline Beaupré is replacing Ms. Berlucci, who retired in June. She will be teaching five sections of Integrated Science, a new course that is replacing Physical Science. She received her BA in biology from Colby College and her MAT in science education from Boston University.

Social Studies Department: Kathryn Black
Kathryn Black, an HHS alumnus, will be teaching AP European History, American History, and International Affairs. She graduated from Villanova University with a BA in history and from Boston College with a MA in American History. Ms. Black finished the coursework for her doctorate in history at Boston College and is working on her dissertation.

Psychologist: Noelle Allard
The new school psychologist is Noelle Allard. She will be testing and chairing meetings at Hingham High and Hingham Middle School. Noelle received her BA in psychology from Roger Williams University in RI and her MED in school psychology from UMass Boston.

Counseling Department: Kelly McPeck
Kelly McPeck will be returning to the Counseling Department from maternity leave! Ms. Sweeney, who was her replacement while she is on leave, is now at Abington High School.
