On Tuesday, October 1st, the Hingham Girl’s Field Hockey team traveled to Duxbury, Massachusetts to play in a tight and stressful game. Tensions were riding high because Hingham was ranked in third place, and Duxbury was ranked in fourth place. After the nail-biting game was over, Hingham successfully beat Duxbury, taking home their 9th win.
After a stressful first quarter, with a score of 0-0, Hingham came into the second quarter with a bang. Senior Haylen Wilson put Hingham on the board and scored through a corner. Not long after, forward, Haylen Wilson scored her second goal, putting Hingham up 2-0. Duxbury came back quickly with a goal, leaving the score with a one-point difference. Not long after, Wilson continued to fight hard and scored two more goals. After interviewing Wilson, she mentioned, “Playing with this team is one of the best decisions I have ever made. Our success during this season has been a team effort and I am so happy I get to have this opportunity.”
After halftime, Junior, Sam Ruddick played her heart out and was an extreme standout on the field. In the third quarter, Hingham was demolishing and gaining possession rapidly, but Duxbury came to play with another goal, leaving the score 4-3.
With only nine minutes left in the game, forward player, Ella O’Neil, relaxed the crowd after an amazing shot assisted by forward, Caitlin Patten. Ending the game, both teams proved their skill, but Hingham came out hard, ready to win, and kept their ranking as third in their league. A new member of the Hingham Girls Field Hockey team, Sophomore, Kaylie Fabrizio mentioned, “I am so happy to be a part of this team. Although there were a lot of nerves going into this game, I knew our team could finish Duxbury and come out strong.”
Last season, Hingham Girls Field Hockey made it all the way to the final four games in the tournament and made history within Hingham Field Hockey. Achieving the final four trophies, Hingham proved their skills and team chemistry. There is no doubt that Hingham will make it as far, or even further in the tournament this year.
