With December just around the corner there is no better way to get into the holiday spirit than visiting the Boston Seaport transformed into a life-sized snow globe. Featuring 120+ small businesses, live music, skating, and even a tree market, there are countless things to see and do while enjoying the lights and festive decor.
The market has been up and running since November 8 attracting both Boston locals and tourists alike, but not only is it beneficial to visitors, but the small businesses showcased on display for the crowds are provided with a platform for new exposure. The marketing is masterful with attractions like Betty the Yeti, the Winter Wish Wall, and even a giant mistletoe arch to encourage pictures to be taken and posted online further promoting the event. Its location in the seaport is the perfect venue, surrounded by views of the Boston Harbor within walking distance of nearby shopping and restaurants.
The Boston Seaport Development team continues this magical new tradition into its fourth season, alongside their partners Constant Contact and the Makers Show evolving the experience by the year. Since its opening in 2020 as an open fresh air market concept to accommodate for Covid, the market has grown in size and popularity, forming new partnerships, and exposing local small businesses.
There is no better way to kick off the holiday season than visiting Snowport with the whole family. There is an attraction for every age including ice skating, gift shopping, a hot chocolate bar, and even a beer garden. Sophomore Mason Ross recalls a visit from a few years ago remembering, “It was so much fun even though it was freezing!” In the four years the Snowport has made an appearance in the Seaport it has most definitely grown in popularity and is expecting record numbers this coming year. When asked, students at Hingham High, if they have not already been to the Holiday Market, either want to or are planning their visit, “I can’t wait to go I’ve heard so much about it,” said Junior Katie Teague.
Do not miss one of Boston’s best holiday events, either to get some gift shopping done, take the kids ice skating, or get a delicious hot chocolate topped with a mountain of whipped cream underneath the sparkling web of lights that covers the entire venue.
