Drama Class Puts On One-Act Plays

On Tuesday night, drama students performed their one act plays. After three months of preparations, the twelve actors performed “The Monologue Show (from Hell)”. In the show,  each student’s character recited a monologue to go with the plot.

The audience laughed at the flashbacks to their own relatable experiences during  presentations in front of the class. The monologues covered relationship drama, hidden crushes, and disgust toward other classmates.

The crowd included junior Sydney Mallett, an active member in the Drama Club. Excitedly, she said, “it was really cool to get to see my peers in a new light and to see how talented they are”.

Because of sports and other activities, some students can only participate in the acting classes at the high school as they are too busy to be active members of the Drama Club.  Therefore, the class allows other students the chance to act and perform. This winter show was a prime example of such an opportunity. Many of the students that performed only take the class and do not participate in the club. Therefore, Sydney, in addition to other students in attendance, loved getting to see some of the talent in the school that is not usually on display.

Another audience member was a 2016 graduate, Molly Rabinovitz. Molly came back to her old high school auditorium to see the show.  After the show she claimed, “it’s strange to see that I graduated only months ago and when I came back it was like years had gone by. I missed my friends and some of the faculty”.
