On January 10th, 2024, Hingham Girls Hockey took on Archbishop Williams at Pilgrim Skating Arena in Hingham. The two teams were very close in skill, and the game left watchers stressed and on the edge of their seats.

Throughout the game, Hingham managed to contain many shots on goal. Unfortunately, the puck never found its way into the net. Hingham fought hard through all three periods, and Archie’s goalie had a great game. Hingham received more than ten shots on goal from players Caroline Doherty, Hannah Lasch, Addy Garrity, and many more.

Although Hingham had possession of the puck almost the whole time, the game went into a four vs. four overtime. To end the game, Hannah Lasch whipped the puck into the net to gain Hingham’s victory. Player Helen Concannon mentioned, “The game was very close, but we fought hard the whole time. The overtime goal was inspiring, and the whole team was beyond overjoyed. Being on the team is so important to me, and no matter the score or the outcome of a game, the team is so special, and we always have many laughs.”

By the end of the game, many awards were given out due to the harsh and eventful game the team played. Freshman Shea Richardson won the hardest worker award due to her many shots on goal and her commitment to the game. Addy Garrity won Most Valuable Player, while Hannah Lasch won the best goal.

Even at the start of the season, Hingham has gone above and beyond and has a record of six wins, 2 ties, and one loss. Although the team is ready to travel far into the tournament, the excitement and energy that comes from the girls prove their love and joy for the sport and each other. In goal, Izzy McGarr proved her skill during the Wednesday game and guided Hingham to their victory. McGarr stated, “Honestly, I think our team works well together. We all respect how each player gets ready for the games and overall the team is extremely supportive. Being in goal, the stress can build up, but the energy in the locker room is always very positive. When I am in the net I try to have fun and save as many shots as I can.”

Preparing to have a great season, Hingham Girls Hockey is working hard and enjoying the time they have on the ice.
