On April 3rd, Kristoffer Borgli’s new film, “The Drama,” was released in the US. With a run-time of 105 minutes, the story follows the soon-to-be newlyweds, Emma, played by Zendaya, and Charlie, played by Robert Pattinson.
The couple is about to get married in Boston; however, while at a dinner party with friends shortly before their save-the-date, Emma reveals a shocking secret that’s been under wraps from everyone. The game called “What’s the Worst Thing You’ve Ever Done” compels Emma to tell Charlie her secret, but Charlie, rightfully shocked, is uncertain if the woman he loves is real or just a facade.
With a budget of $28 million, Borgli’s 2026 romantic, dark comedy is both witty and uncomfortable for its viewers. The actors, especially Zendaya, have done their part in promoting the movie.
Lily Chamberlain, a student at HHS, explained, “I’ve seen plenty of interviews with Zendaya and Robert Pattinson, but her red carpet looks have been circulating on my feed a lot lately.”
It’s well known that Zendaya loves to “go big or go home” for her tour outfits, especially to advertise the movies, so no less is expected for “The Drama.” Her eye-catching press tour outfits have gained traction on the internet.
While on the carpet for the Los Angeles premiere of “The Drama”, Zendaya said, “I remembered the saying: ‘Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue.’ So, this is my something old. I thought I’d bring it back and give it new life.”
During the premiere, she started with “something old,” opting to wear the white Vivienne Westwood gown that she wore for the Oscars in 2015. While promoting the film in Paris, Zendaya knocked off “something new” from the list, as she wore a white gown with a large bow trailing in the back, a custom Louis Vuitton piece.
Next in Rome, Zendaya borrowed Cate Blanchett’s Armani Privé custom gown, a fitted black dress that Blanchett wore in 2022 and 2025. Zendaya concluded the list at the New York Premiere in a Schiaparelli Haute Couture gown that faded from black to blue at the top and bottom.
With Zendaya’s own wedding theories circulating headlines, the timing of the movie and her engagement is very convenient; moreover, the lucky timing is working well for the movie’s attention.
Many, like HHS student Kristi Fickes, are intrigued by the plot and the timing of the movie. She expressed, “I’ve seen the promotions for the movie as well as the theories about whether Zendaya is married or not, and honestly, they just make me want to see the movie more.”
As other new movies like “Project Hail Mary” and “The Super Mario Galaxy Movie” are released in theaters, the creators and contributors of “The Drama” have to hope their movie’s advertisement earns its fair share of viewers. The speculation behind Zendaya’s own engagement and wedding has helped it gain limelight along with her choice of iconic outfits.
