On Saturday, March 21st, Hingham Harbormen Lacrosse opened the 2026 season with its annual trip to Saratoga Springs, New York.
After tryouts completed Wednesday of the same week, the called-up roster woke up early for a seven am bus ride, lasting a drowsy four hours. Finally at twelve pm, the team offloaded to scrimmage the local Johnson City and Burnt Hills, resulting in two comfortable wins.
When asked about the day’s showing, Senior defense captain Mac Corey said “It was a great start to the season; seeing the new roster work together so well.”
After a fun nights stay at a nearby Marriot, the Harbormen played their second day of exhibitions against Saratoga and Ballston Spa. Hingham debuted a newly varsity core to start the day, though the inexperience ultimately resulted in their only loss of the trip. The team recovered in their final game, resetting morale in time for another long bus ride home.
The yearly New York season openers provide the Harbormen an excellent opportunity to readjust to the game, build team chemistry, and debut young talent with nothing at stake.
Junior defenseman Chase Ross shared this perspective, boasting, “I think we all had a fun time in Saratoga; getting back into the swing of things.”
