Dominating early in the season, the Hingham Harborwomen are proving themselves as one of the top teams in Division 2. With four matches this past week, Hingham Girls Tennis has started the season strong. Coming off of April break, their momentum was not hindered. The first match back on Monday (4/27) was an away match at Hanover. Hingham won 4-1, with both doubles teams securing clear wins. Coming off of Monday’s win, another away match at North Quincy was also a distinct win. The Harborwomen won 5-0 on Tuesday (4/28), all courts dominating and applying their skills learned in practice with intention.
Wednesday (4/29) proved the toughest opponent the team has faced yet: Duxbury. Hingham lost the match 2-3 in a close battle with a well-coached team. First doubles, Gabi Magner and Sammy Price, won easily, securing the first win of the match. Second doubles, Veronica Ruth and Caitlin Patten, secured a hard-earned win after almost two hours of back and forth competition. After splitting the first two sets, the final set came down to a ten point tiebreaker where Veronica and Caitlin executed flawless shots and won the set! During the week, the team was 3-1, bringing their overall league record to 8-1.

To start the week, the team was ranked first in the MIAA Girls Tennis Division 2 Power Rankings, proving a great accomplishment with much time still remaining in the season.
Sophomore Ellie Rogers says, “I think we have a very strong team this year and we are all very close. We have a bright future ahead in the season!”
Emma Holmes echoes Ellie’s enthusiasm stating, “It was so much fun to play four matches this week. I feel like we have definitely improved and in just nine matches so far. I am excited to see what happens next for our team in the rest of the regular season!”
As the season continues, the Harborwomen will look to maintain their top ranking and carry their momentum further!
