This Saturday at 7:00 pm, the Army Black Knights will face off against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in a classic out of conference rivalry matchup. The Army is shocking the AAC, with an outstanding record of 9-0. Although they have seen success in the first half of the season, they will put their talents to the test when competing with the number one team in the FBS Independent conference, Notre Dame, with a superb record of 7-2. This game will be a highlight reel of amazing catches and immaculate throws; a true treat for the fans.
The Black Knights, as stated above, are currently one of the best teams in the nation. They are one of three undefeated teams in all of college football, only in the company of number one ranked Oregon and number five ranked Indiana. The Army is led by their quarterback Bryson Daily. Bryson is a second-year starter for the Black Knights and is having a career year. He is throwing the football with a 56 percent completion rate, as well as a quarterback rating of 204.3, which is astounding when compared to other college quarterbacks. Daily has already thrown for seven touchdowns on the year, already tying his total touchdowns thrown in the previous year. Although Bryson is a threat in the pocket, he is also very mobile and knows how to use his feet. He has run for an average of 144.4 yards per game over his last five games and sixteen rushing touchdowns. Although this team has been so successful, local college football fans seem to think this week will show otherwise. Connor Elio, a freshman at Hingham High School, remarked, “Notre Dame will win by a landslide,” when asked about his thoughts on the game. Bryson, as well as the rest of the Black Knights, make this game a must watch event.
The Fighting Irish, on the other hand, cannot be ignored as a team that could take down the undefeated Army squad. Their high rank proves that the college football world knows what this team can do on the field. One main reason Notre Dame can accomplish and retain their number six overall rank is their strong tight-end position, run by number 88, Mitchell Evans. Evans is a top tight end in college football currently, powering his offense to their seven wins through his twenty-two receptions for 188 yards and two touchdowns. This year has been a breakout senior year for Evans, as he was able to multiply his career touchdowns by two. Evans’ performance has fans such as Justin Kosierowski saying, “Talk about the tight end of Notre Dame, his six-foot five frame allows him to get to throw that defensive backs can’t.” Every college football fan is looking forward to seeing the Notre Dame offense take the field this weekend.
Make sure to tune in this Saturday for what will inevitably be the matchup of the day. These two powerful teams are looking for a win to secure a spot in the college football playoffs.
