Although we are not quite there, spring is coming to Hingham faster than anyone expects. With 50-degree weather in the upcoming forecast, it will not be long until everyone is wearing shorts and flip flops, packing their bags for a beach day. As the warm weather comes, there are plenty of things to do both outside and inside. Below is a listicle of ideas to accomplish this spring season!!
Outdoor Shopping Malls
To begin, after being trapped inside indoor spaces all winter, since the outdoors was too cold to walk around in, it is a great time to go to Derby Street or the Hanover Crossing to do some spring shopping. There are tons of various stores offered, and they are not far. Also, with Easter and Memorial Day not too far away, spring deals could be offered!
Baking Spring Treats
Next up is cooking or baking something delicious to celebrate Easter, or just for fun. Ideas include a bunny cake, Cadbury Egg cookies, and strawberry bars since they come in season just about now. Sophomore Catherine Murphy stated, “I enjoy making spring-themed baked goods, especially around Easter, for my family and friends. It is a great way to embrace the spring season while also keeping busy.”
Going on a Nature Walk/Run/Bike ride
Additionally, many individuals enjoy just getting Vitamin D and embracing the warmth. Whether it’s going on a walk with friends, listening to music, or even going on a run to stay in shape, being outside is always great. Also, multiple people enjoy biking around town, visiting new sites, while enjoying the weather.
Outdoor Court Sports
A very popular and cost-friendly way to enjoy the outdoors is to play tennis or pickleball at a local school or court. It is an extremely great way to socialize when getting in exercise under the sun. Sophomore Ellie Rogers, who plays on the girls’ tennis team at Hingham High, commented, “I am looking forward to playing tennis and pickleball outside as the weather gets warmer because they are fun activities to do with friends after school!”
Spring Cleaning
While it is probably most dreaded, spring cleaning is a great way to prepare for summer when it may be warm, yet rainy and dreary outside. Organizing various spaces is a good way to keep your place clean while also clearing out the old things for new ones.
