On Thursday, January 5, the Hingham High Swim Team traveled to Duxbury to take part in their first away meet of the season. The meet was held at the Percy M. Walker Pool, which is located directly outside of Duxbury High School. Unfortunately, both the girls team and the boys team lost to Duxbury. Even so, Hingham had many swimmers qualify for State Championships, including Amanda Kenn, Katherine Connolly, Thea Bruggeman, and Sarah Smith.

“We were really outnumbered; Duxbury had around eighty swimmers on their team even after cuts were made, and we only had around thirty” said freshman Riley Potter after the meet.

In sophomore Liv Casey’s opinion, “we kind of knew going into it that we weren’t going to win, but we worked really hard and came in a close second.” Although both teams did lose, Hingham’s Justin Mocyznski placed first in boys diving.

The next swim meet will be away against Middleboro at the Burkland Swimming Pool in Middleboro.
